WHAT IS FOOT REFLEXOLOGY?

Reflexology is a science which deals with the principles that there are reflexes in the feet relative to each and every organ and all parts of the body.  Stimulating these reflexes properly can help many health problems in a natural way, a type of preventative maintenance.

HOW DOES REFLEXOLOGY WORK?

Reflexologists specify that there are ten energy zones that run through the body from head to toe - five on each side of the body, running down the arms into the tips of the fingers.  These zones run lengthwise and pass through the body so a zone located in front of the body can also be reached from behind.  All organs and body parts lie along one or more of these zones.  Stimulation or working in any zone of the foot by applying pressure with the thumbs and fingers affects the entire zone throughout the body.

Reflexology alleviates the effects of stress by inducing deep relaxation, placing us in a safe space where the system can calm down and function properly.  Circulation flows freely and oxygen reaches the cells. The seeks homeostasis and healing can take place.  One experiences well-being at all levels.  There are important anatomical and biological reasons for working with the feet.  They are furthest from the heart where circulation tends to stagnate.  Stimulation encourages blood flow to the areas.  Also, blood flow pulls toxins downward.  Inorganic waste such as uric acid and calcium build-up in the bottom of the feet.  A good reflexology can break up those crystals and deposits and improve blood flow.

There are many health-threatening dangers in our environment: stress, fatigue, chemical additives in food, polluted water supplies, radioactivity, and poor air quality, among other conditions.  This puts strain on the body's immune system.  Thus, it is more important than ever to keep stress down so the immune system can heal and begin to function at maximum peak.  The immune system responds synergistically, relying on other parts of the body to maintain their defense.  Only when well-balanced does a person ward off illness.
